AJSS is proud to be honoring Board Chair Larry Green with the creation of the Lawrence Green Alumni Award. Since his summer as a volunteer in 1968 in Busby, Montana and his subsequent service on staff in Waterloo, Iowa (1972) and Crookston, Minnesota (1973), Larry has made AJSS an integral part of his life.  He joined the AJSS board in 1975 and became President in 1998.  Larry has dedicated himself to believing in and securing the future of AJSS.  When not visiting AJSS projects in the summertime, Larry is an attorney with Burns & Levinson, LLP, in Boston.

The Lawrence Green Leadership Award honors an AJSS alumnus who is showing a continued commitment to service in his or her everyday life.

This inaugural award will be presented to AJSS Alum, William J. Wolfe, President and CEO, First Washington Realty, Inc., Bethesda, MD

Bill was an AJSS volunteer in 1968 in Clinton, KY.  While a student at Clark University, he founded The Key Program, Inc., a New England based youth service agency that continues to provide a variety of residential and non-residential programming to at-risk youth and their families. Mr. Wolfe served as Key’s Chairman for 25 years. Since inception, Key has provided services to over 75,000 young people and their families.

Bill’s two children as well as his siblings, nieces, nephews and cousins have participated in AJSS projects over the years.

Also joining our program are:

Mark Naster, Resource Development Coordinator

Heartland Habitat for Humanity’s mission is to build simple, decent homes and communities in partnership with God’s people in need, while following biblical principles. Established in 2006, Heartland Habitat was formed by the merger of Kaw Valley Habitat for Humanity and Northland Habitat for Humanity. Since 1987, the two Habitat affiliates have built over 215 homes in Wyandotte, Leavenworth and Johnson counties in Kansas and Clay and Platte counties in Missouri. AJSS worked with Heartland Habitat during the summers of 2008 and 2009 and with the Kaw Valley affiliate in 1998.
